One pack beadable moisture curing polyurethane adhesives have been used for many years for manufacturing panels. The beadable product is pumped to a series of equally spaced nozzles mounted on a head, through which the adhesive then flows onto the panel.
The panels can be passed under a static bead head on a conveyor or the panels can remain stationary and the bead head moved along the length of the panel.
Alternatively, a smaller bead head can be used to dispense the adhesive which is traversed across the width of the panel as the panel is passed under the head. Moisture is sprayed onto the panels during this process. The panel is then constructed and transferred into a press, which is usually heated, where the adhesive is allowed to cure.
This type of operation lends itself to the production of large flat panels up to 10 metres long in a semi-continuous operation and a typical production cycle is one panel every 15 minutes.
Apollo manufactures adhesives that are suitable for application via both conventional rake type beaders and the new diamond bead technique.
