The Fastack range of products, for which Apollo was awarded the Queen's Award for Innovation in 2005, comprises two component polyurethanes developed to bond a wide variety of substrates such as:
- metals
- rigid insulation materials
- MDF
A non absorbent version is available if the adhesive is to be applied to a porous or open cell material.
The adhesive is applied to one surface before the second substrate is placed on top and then passed through nip rollers. This typically takes 60-90 seconds and lends itself to continuous or semi-continuous manufacturing. When the bonded substrates reach the end of the conveyor the adhesive has built up enough cure to allow the panel to be handled.
