Water based polyurethanes are free of solvents, exhibit good adhesive strength and are resistant to heat and plasticisers. Adhesive joints are flexible and have a high load bearing capacity.
Products are supplied as both single part and two part adhesives, where two part is employed if increased heat resistance is required.
Water based polyurethanes can be used for the following applications:
- lamination of films and veneers in the furniture industry - automotive component lamination such as dashboards, door linings, parcel shelves - the manufacture of shoes
Water based polyurethane adhesives can be applied using a number of application methods including brush and roller but is normally applied using a spray. The adhesive is then dried and heat reactivated to a temperature of 60-80 degrees centigrade after which the components are pressed together to form the bond.
