Wigan Council's programme of installation of tactile paving for DDA
(Disability Discrimination Act ) compliance will be uninterrupted by the weather
due to Apollo Tactiles' new moisture tolerant adhesive.
To comply with the act all drop kerbs and thresholds should be preceded with
a tactile system to alert the partially sighted to potential danger.
Apollo Tactiles' surface mounted tactile paving system has been developed to
offer longer life than traditional concrete paving without the need to excavate
and the attendant disruption.
The high slip resistant tiles are available in a range of DETR compliant
patterns and can be quickly and easily installed by bonding directly to the
existing surface.
Apollo's new moisture tolerant adhesive enables the tiles to be laid in damp
weather conditions, minimising delays in installation, and cures within 6 hours
ensuring minimum disruption to traffic flow.
